GGPoker rakeback in 2026: how Ocean Rewards works
GGPoker rakeback is paid through Ocean Rewards, which replaced Fish Buffet, and by GGPoker's own estimate it returns up to ≈80% of the rake you pay at the top Shark level. Your level depends on the Tide Points you collect within the calendar year, and the cashback lands as GEMs that you trade for cash in the rewards store. Ocean Rewards pays most to players who generate rake steadily all year.

How much rakeback does GGPoker pay?
Rakeback is the share of the rake a poker room hands back to you after you play. GGPoker returns it through Ocean Rewards and puts the Estimated Cashback for Shark, the last of eight levels, at ≈80%.
Lower levels return a smaller share, and the rate climbs as you move up. GGPoker shows the exact progress toward each level inside the poker client, so the client is the place to check where you stand before planning a month of volume.
GGPoker is the flagship room of the GG Network. Natural8 runs on the same network and uses Ocean Rewards too; the Natural8 rakeback page covers how that version differs.
What changed when Ocean Rewards replaced Fish Buffet
Fish Buffet was the earlier GGPoker loyalty scheme. GGPoker retired it in favor of Ocean Rewards, which lifted the top Estimated Cashback figure GGPoker publishes to ≈80% and switched progress to a yearly cycle.
- Progress now runs on Tide Points collected over the calendar year.
- A level you reach stays with you until the end of the following year.
- Whether you keep a level next year depends on the Tide Points you earned in the previous year.
- Cashback is credited in GEMs, and the speed of GEM accrual rises with your level.
- In some regulated regions you have to opt in to Ocean Rewards by hand before points start counting.
If you played under Fish Buffet, check the rewards section of the client after logging in, because your Ocean Rewards level and GEM balance are listed there.
How Tide Points set your level
Tide Points are the progress currency of Ocean Rewards. You earn them in proportion to the rake you pay, so a player at NL100 (No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50/$1 blinds) moves up faster than someone with the same hand count at NL10.
The count resets with the calendar year. Each Tide Point you earn in January carries the same weight toward your level as one earned in December, which means a slow first half can still end in a high level if your volume picks up later.
The eight levels, from entry to top, are Fish, Shrimp, Crab, Turtle, Octopus, Dolphin, Whale and Shark. Fish is the entry level.
GGPoker publishes an estimate of the cashback at each level rather than a fixed rate. By its estimate, Fish returns about ≈16%, Turtle about ≈40% and Shark about ≈80%. Turtle needs 200,000 Tide Points in a calendar year; the client shows the requirement for the other levels.
| Level | Rakeback | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Fish | ≈16% | 0 points a year |
| Shrimp | ≈25% | Not published |
| Crab | ≈30% | Not published |
| Turtle | ≈40% | 200,000 points a year |
| Octopus | ≈50% | Not published |
| Dolphin | ≈60% | Not published |
| Whale | ≈70% | Not published |
| Shark | ≈80% | Not published |
How GEMs turn into cash at GGPoker
GEMs are the reward currency of Ocean Rewards. They build up as you pay rake, faster at higher levels, and sit in your account until you spend them in the GGPoker rewards store.
The store converts GEMs to cash on your balance. Bigger exchanges get a better rate per GEM than small ones, so players who are happy to wait often let GEMs pile up and cash them out in one larger swap.
- Open the rewards section in the GGPoker client.
- Check your GEM balance and the cash options on offer.
- Pick the exchange size that suits you, keeping in view that larger bundles pay more per GEM.
- Confirm, and the cash lands on your poker balance.
GGPoker rakeback calculator: turning rake into Tide Points
GGPoker counts 100 Tide Points for every $1 of rake you pay. That rate is the starting point for any estimate, because Tide Points decide your level and your level decides how fast GEMs build up.
GGPoker publishes estimated cashback rates per level. A player at Turtle who pays $2,000 in rake in a month gets about ≈$800 back for that month and ≈$9,600 over a year at the same level. To see which level your own volume reaches, multiply a typical month of rake by the Tide Points rate and then by twelve. Compare the running total with the level requirements in the GGPoker client to see which level that pace reaches before the year closes.

The calculator above works from your rake and the rate you enter. The standalone rakeback calculator page explains each field. Two things shape the cash you finally receive: most months of a climbing player are paid below the top level, and small GEM exchanges convert at a weaker rate than large ones.
Who gets the most from Ocean Rewards
Ocean Rewards favors steady volume across the year. A player who logs thousands of hands every month at mid stakes collects Tide Points without gaps and holds a high level into the following year.
Players who take long breaks gain less. Because the count resets each January and your next-year level depends on last year's total, a season of three busy months followed by a pause leaves you lower than an even pace with the same total rake would.
If your volume is small or irregular, compare GGPoker with rooms that pay a flat percentage. The rakeback comparison table lines up the programs side by side, and the guide to how rakeback works explains the difference between level-based and flat deals.

Questions and answers
What is the GGPoker new rakeback system?
The new system is Ocean Rewards, which replaced Fish Buffet. It has eight levels from Fish to Shark, places you by Tide Points collected in the calendar year and pays in GEMs, worth up to ≈80% of your rake by GGPoker's own estimate.
Is GGPoker rakeback paid in cash?
Yes, after an exchange. Ocean Rewards credits GEMs, and you swap them for cash in the rewards store, with a better rate on larger exchanges.
Do Tide Points reset every year?
Yes. Tide Points count per calendar year, a level you reach holds until the end of the following year, and falling short of the requirement moves you down at the start of the next year.
How do I calculate my GGPoker rakeback?
Start from your rake. You earn 100 Tide Points for every $1 of rake, the yearly total sets your level, and the level sets how fast GEMs accrue, up to the ≈80% GGPoker estimates for Shark.
Do I need to sign up for Ocean Rewards?
Only in some regulated regions. There GGPoker asks you to opt in to Ocean Rewards by hand before Tide Points start counting.
